Randy taking a swim in the pond

The life jackets are so he can float and relax.  The straw hat is so the August heat won't fry what little brains he has left.

Betty in 1995

Betty had to take every window out of the old house and fix them.  Here she is painting around one of the livingroom windows.

Our first Christmas open house 1997

It was great fun the open house started at 2:00 p.m. and went on until after dark.  People came and went all afternoon.

Picture will be placed here soon

Text for future picture will be here.

First Christmas Dinner in the old house 1995

The old house was barely livable and we only used it on the weekends.  We didn’t want the first year we were in the house to go by without having a Christmas dinner.  We invited our Round Top friends to join is for this first Christmas dinner in Round Top.  They came and we all had a wonderful time.

Betty staining the floor of the back porch 1998

We had the back porch added to the house in 1996 and thought we would allways use it as a screened in porch.  We soon came to the conclusion that we needed the room for other things.  We enclosed it and it became our laundry room, half bath, and electronic charging counter.

Randy spraying the primer coat on the entire inside of the house 1995

Betty spent many weekends sanding all the walls so it was time to put the primer coat of paint on all the walls and ceiling of the house.  The quickest way to do this was to spray the walls and ceiling.  The floors had not been sanded yet so we didn't have to worry about them.  This worked great.

Campfire cookouts at the Melton's house.

Left to right: Sandy Reed, Frank Johnston and Kathy Johnston, Fred Hallman and Christine Hallman, and Al Hernandez at the fire. It is always great fun to invite friends over in the winter and have a campfire.  The ladies sing and the guys put more wood on the fire.

The Hanlen fishing crew from Houston

The guys had been wanting to come up and do some fishing.  Well it was a warm day in April but they came and caught fish.  The young fathers are trying their best to keep the boys under control while a picture is being taken.  The grandfather simply gets to spoil the boys, thus not making it any easier on the fathers.

The fishermen: L to R: Mike’s son-in-law Greg La Rue with his son Trace, Rob Hanlen with his son Cade, and the proud sitting grandfather is Mike Hanlen. (Their wives were smart enough not to come that day)

The Round Top freeze of January 2007

Belive it or not it does get a little cold in the country some times.  This ice was formed after three days of 25 degree temps at night and did not get above 30 degrees during the days.

Nov. 08 Book Club meeting

Our turn to have the girl’s book club meet at our house.  The ladies have their book club meeting and the guys show up two hours later.  Just in time to all eat supper.  This is my kind of book club.
